About Christine Romans
As a young girl, I spent 11 years of my childhood growing up in Rarotonga where my father was the Chief Medical Officer for the Cook Islands on secondment from the New Zealand Government. It was here that I started to develop my passion for cross stitch, tapestry, knitting and other types of craft making. Over many years since, I have knitted, stitched and created crafts for myself, friends and family members. These include quilts, cot quilts, knitted socks, quilted placemats and other handmade items. I never considered creating crafts as a business venture until after my partner and I relocated to Brisbane from New Zealand in 2011. As an older person it was difficult gaining employment, so I established my own craft making venture and called it Christine’s Handmade Crafts. When I first started, I did so by selling crafts via The Morayfield Handmade Expo which operated on the last Sunday of every month. However, now my primary focus is via the Web and Social Media.
About My Partner
Whilst I focus entirely on hand made craft making, my partner Kevin manages the business, along with all the computer, digital photography, graphics design and online marketing requirements. With over 20 years previous employment in the New Zealand Internet industry this is what he enjoys most.
As hobbypreneurs our business allows us to combine our hobbies, interests and experience to form the ideal joint business partnership in our retirement years.
